Keeley Hawes To Be Doctor Who Villain

Ashes To Ashes 's Alex Drake to take on Peter Capaldi's Doctor

The BBC has announced that Keeley Hawes will play Ms Delphox, a villain in episode five of the next series of Doctor Who .

Showrunner Steven Moffat added the following to the BBC's press release (which can be read in our Doctor Who Accumulator ):

"Anyone watching Jed Mercurio's amazing Line Of Duty will know that Keeley Hawes is having one hell of year. And now it's about to get even better as she achieves the greatest villainy yet attempted on Doctor Who : she plays a banker."

Here at SFX we couldn't be happier, having fallen in love with Keeley when she came to our SFX Weekender a couple of years back. Terrific in Ashes To Ashes as the female cop thrown back to the 1980s to grapple with DCI Gene Hunt, Keeley's genre filmography also includes a small part in the disastrous 1998 film The Avengers and voicing Lara Croft in several videogames.

She'll appear in the episode written by Steven Thompson ("The Curse Of The Black Spot", "Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS") and directed by Douglas Mackinnon (“The Sontaran Strategem”, “The Poison Sky”, “The Power Of Three”, “Cold War”). It'll air sometime in the autumn: we can't wait!
