Keiji Inafune debuts new blog, wants to make console games

Never one to keep quiet for long, former Capcom bigshot Keiji Inafune has reemerged after a short stint off the radar. Inafune resigned from Capcom in October.

His first blog post begins by reiterating that he has no title, and will go by his name from now on. It seems Inafune doesn't mind leaving the Japanese office world behind, at least for now.

He goes onto say that he wants to make games, and that by games he means console and portable games (though he also says social games shouldn't be overlooked). This is seems obvious, but it's actually good to hear. Several high-profile Japanese developers have gone on to work on smaller titles or social games, rather than console titles - not so for Inafune, it appears.

Inafune has no major announcement to make at the moment, but when he can discuss big news, he intends to use his blog as his platform. He concludes by saying, "I'd like to challenge things that I couldn't do during my salaryman era and greatly exceed my former self."

What those challenges are remain a mystery, but we'll stay zeroed in on his blog.
