Kenneth Branagh talks Thor
It’s too early for him to pinpoint a lead
Finally stamping official confirmation on his choice as director, Kenneth Branagh has begun talking about making Marvel’s Thor.
“I am directing Thor or ‘The Mighty Thor’ as you might like to call it,” he told MTV. “I think it will be Thor.” Yes, us too.
The film is still in pre-production and Branagh is quick to dismiss any of the recent possible casting choices, such as Kevin McKidd. “There’s been lots of talk about casting — I sound like a politician — but we are too early at this stage. We’re getting the story and the visual effects together and all of that is very exciting. Someone sensational is going to play the part but it is early days.”
Science fiction, fact and fantasy woven into one
He also espouses on exactly why he chose to make the film: “To work on a story about one of the immortals, Gods, extraordinary beings, inter-dimensional creature. There’s science fiction and science fact and fantasy all woven into one.
“It’s based on Norse legends which Marvel sort of raided in a brilliant way.”
He certainly sounds up for the challenge, and we’re predicting he’ll deliver something great. Provided we can get over our fear of another Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Question: Help Branagh out. Who would you cast as the warrior god?
