Kevin Feige praises Ben Kingsleys Mandarin
Builds anticipation for Iron Man 3
Last week’s grand unveiling of the Iron Man 3 trailer gave us a first official look at Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin, with the Oscar-winning actor looking supremely menacing as one of Tony Stark’s greatest foes.
Marvel bigwig Kevin Feige has since broken cover to discuss Kingsley’s performance in the film, revealing that his input has given the franchise a whole new lease of life.
“On his last take of his first full day as the Mandarin, when they yelled ‘Cut!’ the entire crew burst into applause, spearheaded by Mr Downey himself,” says Feige. “It was pretty amazing to see that.
“That’s what you get when you hire Sir Ben Kingsley. He’s so excited about his part and so into this character, and frankly just scaring the heck out of everybody,” he continues. “They’re like, ‘You’ve broken us out of our sceptical malaise!’”
Directed by Shane Black and co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Rebecca Hall, Iron Man 3 will open in the UK on 26 April 2013.
