Kevin Feige talks Doctor Strange
Refutes the need for “movie star” casting
Kevin Feige has been discussing Marvel’s plans to bring Doctor Strange to the big screen, and has commented on recent speculation over the studio’s supposed shortlist of directors .
“We’re meeting a lot of people now,” says Feige, before dismissing the specific names mentioned as mere speculation. “But we’re actively looking.”
“We always look at a wide range of people with a wide range of backgrounds. There’s only one criteria: do something that we think is really cool. That’s about it.”
As for the part of Doctor Strange himself, Johnny Depp has been strongly linked to the role, although Feige rejects the notion that they are actively looking for “movie star” casting.
“I think if you’re looking to track our decision-making and how we’ve done things, we have a pretty wide track record. So, no, a movie star is not required, but that doesn’t mean a movie star wouldn’t be great. It just depends.”
Nothing official to get our teeth into just yet then, although it certainly sounds as though the wheels are in motion over at Marvel. Exciting times for fans of the good doctor…
