Kevin Smith bigs up Scott Pilgrim
"Nobody is going to understand WTF just hit them"
A man with one chubby finger continually pressed to the pulse of geek culture, Kevin Smith knows what he’s talking about when it comes to comic books. Which is why his rave review of Scott Pilgrim vs The World is a good sign that Edgar Wright’s new one is going to be very special indeed.
Speaking to The Film Stage after a screening of the film, Smith was quick to dole out a typically colourful seal of approval.
“That movie is great,” he said. “It’s spellbinding and nobody is going to understand what the fuck just hit them. It’s just a fucking good time man.”
Smith was also keen to commend Edgar Wright on achieving a faithful representation of the graphic novel. “I would be hard pressed to say, ‘he’s bringing a comic book to life!’ but he is bringing a comic book to life.”
“If you’ve ever seen Scott Pilgrim , he did a fucking damn fine job of taking essentially an anime looking book and putting it into the real world, while keeping everything about that book that’s kind of cool and what pops.”
