Kick-Ass 2 has released a first teaser trailer online, and you can watch it right here.
Catching up with Dave ‘Kick-Ass’ Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Mindy ‘Hit-Girl’ Macready (Chloë Grace Moretz) after the events of the first film, things have… escalated.
It seems you can’t just go around playing at have-a-go-superheroes without the situation snowballing. Not only has Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) upped the ante and reinvented himself as a supervillain (dubbed, The Motherfucker), he’s assembling a team of baddies to bring down Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl and avenge his father's death.
Throw superhero team Justice Forever into the mix and the stakes should be suitably raised for a action-packed sequel.

It's pleasing to see that Moretz still gets to, well, kick a lot of ass this time round (showing off her combat skills on top of a moving truck), and Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars and Stripes looks to be a particular madcap delight, as terrifying as he is nuts.
The sequel is based on the comic book series written by Mark Millar and pencilled by John Romita Jr. Jeff Wadlow directs, taking the reins from Part 1 director Matthew Vaughn (who stays on in a producing capacity).
Kick-Ass 2 opens in the UK on 19 July 2013.
