Killzone 3 multiplayer career abilities guide
An online idiot's guide on how not to get destroyed in Killzone 3's multiplayer
The Marksman
Abilities: Cloak Suit and Scramble
Above: How this guy can even see through the scope is beyond us
The Marksman class is another that should endear itself to you lone wolves. The Marksman specializes in long-range combat (bwuh?!) and sports the Cloak Suit ability. As in, he turns invisible. Plus, his secondary ability – Scramble – messes with the enemy’s radar. If you’re a man’s man who relishes staring directly into the eyes of your enemy (through the scope of a high-powered sniper rifle from half a mile away), this is the class for you.
DO:
Get Behind Enemy Lines
Once you’ve fully upgraded your Cloak Suit ability, get your hands on a silenced weapon (any will do) and start moving towards a high-traffic zone on the map. It’s preferable that you get close to the enemy’s spawn point. Once there, find a nice spot with a view, activate your Cloak Suit and begin picking off newly spawned players.
The trick to this is that killing enemy players with a silenced weapon won’t deactivate your Cloak Suit. The Cloak Suit will flicker every time you fire the weapon; however, as long as you remain still, you will quickly become invisible again. Just make sure that you move around after killing so many guys. Never mind that camping a spawn point for too long a crappy thing to do – these dudes will respawn in as little as five seconds, they’ll have an idea of where you are and they will be pissed. This strategy will guarantee at least a few expletive-laden homophobic slurs from the enemy team.
Be a Human Jamming Signal
Above: There are obvious benefits to running with the group
This strategy requires that you have invested at least one Unlock Point into your Scramble ability and two points in the StA52 Assault Rifle. Equip the assault rifle as your primary weapon and then simply run with your squad throughout the match. The idea is that your scramble ability will keep your team flying under the enemy’s radar. Likewise, the assault rifle will help you stay alive in mid- to close-range combat, and you can still mix things up with your Cloak Suit. Just because you’re a Marksman doesn’t mean you have to camp in one corner of the map for the entirety of the game sniping.
DON%26rsquo;T:
You Don’t Snipe in Carrington
The sniper rifle is a situational weapon, for Christ’s sake. If the Marksman is your favorite career and you simply rack up those kills in game types like Bodycount, that’s fantastic. Or, if you’re exceptional at locking down certain areas in Capture and Hold, hooray for you. However, if you find yourself playing something like Assassination or Search and Destroy, you might want to at least consider leaving your damned sniper nest to aid your team in accomplishing the objectives. You know…to win the match?
