Sony plans to finally take the wraps of Killzone: Mercenary later this week.
Asked about the game in the comments section of the EU PlayStation Blog over the weekend, the site’s manager confirmed: “We’ll be talking more about KZ:M next week, so I’ll leave you hanging for now!”
Press were reportedly invited to see the game recently, which should result in the imminent publication of magazine and online previews. According to a NeoGAF translation of Polish magazine PSX Extreme's new Killzone: Mercenary cover feature (pictured), the game is described as “like portable Killzone 3" and "looking better than Uncharted”.
The Vita shooter was announced at Sony’s Gamescom press conference last August. A few details and the first Killzone: Mercenary trailer were released at the time, but next to nothing has been revealed since.
Killzone: Mercenary is a first-person shooter in which you receive money for taking out enemies en route to big contract kills. Your character is a mercenary straddling the line in the war between the ISA and the Helghast, so you can carry out missions for both sides.
Slated for release later this year, Killzone: Mercenary has been described by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Jim Ryan as “a completely new game created specifically for Vita to deliver a first-person shooter experience that simply wouldn't be possible on any other platform”.
