King of Fighters XIII: New trailer shows locations and impossibly-fast gameplay
31-fighter roster revealed at freezeframe-testing pace
If you're a King of Fighters veteran, you no doubt do everything fast. You play games at hyperspeed, you wolf your meals down without sitting, and your love life is problematic. So you'll have no issues with the new trailer for the series' thirteenth iteration, in which much of the game's detail is revealed for little more than a frame at a time. Pause-fingers at the ready to find out as much as you can about the game's locales, characters and new gameplay mechanics, which frankly are getting out of hand.
King of Fighters XIII marks the conclusion of the story arc centered around series regular Ash Crimson, begun in the series' 2003 iteration. The game's designed for the KoF faithful, according to design director Kei Yamamoto, but will feature new elements for the series – meaning, if you're wondering whether this new “Max Cancel” character will be selectable from the start, you're only eligible for a moderate amount of ribbing from series OGs. The console versions are set for an international October release (it's been in arcades for a year now), and half the game's characters have already been previewed in the iOS spinoff, King of Fighters-i, designed as a scaled-down touch-screen version of KoF XIII proper. Have you tried it out?
