Kirsten to go Blondie...
Is Dunst doing Debbie?
It seems Kirsten Dunst just can’t shut up these days. First she lets the biggest secret in superhero showbiz slip – Venom – now she’s confirming one of the hottest rumours of 2007: Michael Gondry’s prepping a Blondie movie, and she’s inked to star.
Gossiping to the New Zealand website Stuff, Dunst was quizzed about Gondry’s next project, claiming, “It’s about somebody who everybody knows, but I can't say who it is.” But this is Kirsten Dunst we’re talking about, so it didn’t take long for her admit that her character is a “well-known singer.”
If that well-known singer is indeed Deborah Harry, you can fashion a massive sticky label, write ‘intrigued’ on it and slap it on our foreheads.
We can’t think of many better directors to call action on a new wave biopic than Gondry; but Dunst as Deborah? She’s got the hair, she’s got the look, but has she got the voice?
One way or another, we’ll find out for sure soon enough…
