Lair developer thinks small
Factor 5 planning PS3 downloadable games
The developer behind the PlayStation 3 game Lair is planning to create downloadable games for PS3, in line withSony's plansto provide original content for the console's download service.
After work is completed on the dragon-riding action game, which is due to be released next March, developer Factor 5 will start work on some smaller projects that will be available via PS3's online store.
Factor 5's president, Julian Eggebrecht, said that he intends to embrace the online distribution service and believes it will be good for the industry. "Personally, as a director, I think it's one of these things that we in the creative community need a little bit," he told US industry siteGamasutra.
If this proves to be a success we may well see many other major studios look to bringing out cheaper and creatively risky games to supplement their bigger titles.
