League of Legends Season 2 championship boasts largest prize in eSports history
Winner takes home millions of dollars in lanyards and inflatable swag
Today, Riot Gamesannouncedthe details of their grand championship League of Legends battle which will wrap up the second season of competitive play.
What will start with a series of regional battles featuring the best players from Europe, Asia, and North America, will culminate in a climactic championship battle with $3 million in prizes on the line. According to Riot, this is the largest purse in eSports history.
The championship will take place in Los Angeles on October 13, 2012, with six regional events taking place from late July to late September. The full schedule can be found below.
Mainland China: July 26 - Shanghai, China at China Joy
Europe: August 16 - Cologne, Germany at Gamescom
North America: August 31 - Seattle, United States at PAX Prime
Korea: September 21 - Seoul, Korea at the OGN eSports Stadium
