LEGO Batman 2 spotted in Super Heroes toy line
Ad suggests next LEGO Batman game will borrow heavily from DC Universe
It appears Batman is bringing a number of his DC superfriends (and foes) along for the ride in his next LEGO adventure. An ad for LEGO Batman 2: Super Heroes was spotted inside an instruction booklet for LEGO's new Super Heroes kits, and according to the cutesy illustration we could be Red Brick hunting with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Lex Luthor in 2012.
The ad also indicates the next LEGO Batman game is in development for 3DS, Wii, Xbox 360 and unnamed Sony formats, which we'll assume means PS3 and the upcoming PS Vita. Neither Warner Bros. Interactive or Traveller's Tales have made the news official, but all signs point to a LEGO Batman sequel appearing next year alongside the LEGO Super Heroes kits and The Dark Knight Rises movie.
Combined with last month's LEGO image leak, it's almost certain now that LEGO Batman 2 will incorporate much more of the DC Universe than the original. The new LEGO Super Heroes line will also feature kits based on the Marvel universe, so in the spirit of speculating future games based on LEGO licenses, we're guessing LEGO Avengers, LEGO Spider-Man, and/or LEGO X-Men won't be far behind.
