Sarah Connor Chronicles and 300 star Lena Headey is the latest actor to sign up for HBO’s pilot of Game Of Thrones, based on a mega-selling, multi-part book series by George RR Martin.
Headey will play Queen Cersei of House Lannister, wife of King Robert (Mark Addy) and sister of twin brother Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and estranged younger brother Tyrion (Peter Dinkladge). Cersei is described as "every bit as smart, cunning and devious as the powerful men around her." The pilot also stars Sean (Sharpe) Bean as battle-weary Lord Of Winterfell Ned Stark.
The pilot has been scripted by David (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) Benioff and Dan Weiss, while Tom (The Station Agent) McCarthy is in the director’s seat. Benioff has described it as “The Sopranos in Middle-earth”.
If the pilot is successful, the soonest a series would make the air is late 2010.
