Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson in line for Highwaymen?
Being courted to play the men who killed Bonnie and Clyde
The Bonnie and Clyde story is a well known one in American culture, but Universal is reportedly cueing up a new take on the story that will focus upon their killers.
Highwaymen will follow the exploits of the pair of Texas Rangers who tracked down the famous lawbreakers and gunned them down in that iconic shootout.
The Blind Side ’s John Lee Hancock is apparently in the saddle to direct, and he is reportedly courting Liam Neeson and Woody Harrelson to play the two lawmen in question.
Talks are thought to have begun with the two stars, both of whom would surely make a badass counterpoint to their notorious enemies. If they can be persuaded to sign on, it sounds like a banker to us.
With a Bonnie and Clyde television series also in the works, as well as the long-mooted movie remake featuring Emile Hirsch, it sounds like America’s most famous outlaws are going to be back in the spotlight for some time to come.
