Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII side quest guide
A Testing Proposition
Personal Guards can deal a status ailment for you to test the Nektar
Triffids, common in The Wildlands, are also helpful in testing Nektar Mk II
Meonektons can impair you for your Mirakle Nektar testing needs
Wrap up your quest by testing Nektar of the Gods Omega at The Slaughterhouse
Who you get it from: Alchemist Velno, a shopkeeper outside of The Slaughterhouse colosseum.
When you can obtain the quest: Anytime.
Rewards for completion: 3500 gil, Scholar’s Mortarboard x1, Nektar of the Gods Omega x1, Max HP +120, Strength +8, Magic +12
Instructions for completion: This is both a lengthy quest and one where you need to have one free space in your Recovery Items inventory at all times. First, Velno wants you to test a Nektar and its effects on you while you have a status ailment. Many enemies in the game are happy to deal such ailments so keep an eye on your status icons during battle. Once you’ve tested it, return to Velno.
Next, she’ll give you a Nektar Mk II, which is specific to dealing with poison ailments. While you shouldn’t need to perform excessive monster hunting to get yourself poisoned, Goblots in the Dead Dunes and Gorgonopsid’s Virulent Breath can take care of that need if you’re pressed for time.
After you’ve tested the Nektar Mk II, Velno will give the Mirakle Nektar, which you must test while having three or more active status ailments at the same time. The most reliable creatures who can impair you this severely include the Meonekton and an Earth Eater.
Upon reporting to Velno, she’ll give you your last assignment: drink the Nektar of the Gods Omega while in battle in The Slaughterhouse. This will complete your quest, which includes another Nektar of the Gods Omega as one of your rewards.
