LittleBigPlanet's Offensive Lyrics

Everyone expecting the adorable world-building LittleBigPlanet to hit shelves this week was rightly disappointed when Sony announced a worldwide recall just a few days ago. Apparently, the PS3’s biggest exclusive this fall contains a background music track with phrases taken directly from the Qur’an. And because the Qur’an is the central religious text for Islam, Sony and developer Media Molecule feared Muslims would take it the wrong way and get all pissy.

Above: Awwwww, how can we stay mad at these adorable guys?

Not us! We refused to send our review copy back for demolition and instead ripped video of the offending lyrics no matter what the cost. Here we present to you unaltered video of music from Grammy-award winning artist Toumani Diabate… who is in fact a devout Muslim. Think it’s a big deal? Or was Sony correct in anticipating a media shitstorm? Comment below!

LittleBigPlanet’s new release date is October 27th.
