Lost star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins Thor: The Dark World
Mr Eko becomes Thor’s nemesis
Casting on Thor: The Dark World is coming along nicely, with Lost star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje the latest (sizeable) name to join the soon-to-shoot sequel.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje is best known for his role as Mr Eko in JJ Abrams’ TV series Lost , though he’s also had roles in The Thing and G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra .
Spoilers ahead… In Thor: The Dark World , he’ll play not one but two characters, as the villainous Algrim the Strong and Kurse.
When Dark Elf Algrim is sent by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) to fight Thor (Chris Hemsworth), he loses, develops amnesia and re-emerges as Kurse.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje is the first big bit of casting to come out of the sequel since Eccleston was attached to play Malekith – replacing a departing Mads Mikkelsen .
Returnees for the film include Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Kat Dennings.
Thor: The Dark World opens in cinemas on 8 November 2013.
