Luke Bracey to star opposite Gerard Butler in Point Break remake
Filming set to begin this summer
Despite wails of indignation from fans of the original, the Point Break remake continues to move ahead, with Alcon announcing a major piece of casting alongside a new start date for the forthcoming actioner.
With Gerard Butler already in place to star as extreme sports nut, Bodhi, G.I. Joe: Retaliation star Luke Bracey has signed on to co-lead the Ericsson Core-directed film.
The Aussie actor got his big break in Home & Away , before co-starring in Monte Carlo with Leighton Meester. He’ll be taking on the Keanu Reeves role of Johnny Utah in the forthcoming reboot.
As far as we know, the basic premise of the film will remain the same, with Utah infiltrating Bodhi’s gang of surf enthusiasts, who also happen to enjoy knocking off banks in their spare time.
Meanwhile, cameras are set to begin rolling on the project in early summer, with an official release date yet to be confirmed.
