Reports of longtime Mad Max director George Miller's exit from the series have been greatly exaggerated, according to none other than Miller himself. A report from Page Six which claimed Miller wouldn't direct any more Mad Max movies was "completely garbled," Miller said in an interview with The Wrap.
"I was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review," Miller said. "She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max."
In other words, it sounds like Miller wants to take a break before diving back into the wasteland. If we're going based on history, his next project will be something super kid-friendly and heartwarming - after all, this is the man that went from making Mad Max movies to writing Babe and producing Happy Feet.
But when he deems it time, Miller sounds ready. "I have two more stories," he said. In other words: two more venue for rockin’ flamethrower guitars.
