Mads Mikkelsen will be a baddie in Doctor Strange
Remember yesterday, when we reported on Mads Mikkelsen's character in Star Wars spinoff Rogue One? As opposed to the typical roles he commands - the bad guys - he confirmed that in Gareth Edwards' rebellious Force flick he'd be playing a good guy for once. A day later and things are back to normal, as Variety reports Mikkelsen is now in the running for a villainous role in Doctor Strange.
Mikkelsen's reign as televised cannibal Dr. Lecter comes to an end soon, leaving him with a gap in his schedule for something suitably evil. While the outlet doesn't specify which part he'd play in the upcoming Marvel movie, it's likely he'll work in tandem with the other confirmed baddie Baron Mordo (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor).
Directed by Scott Derrickson and penned by Jon Spaihts, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, who's schooled by his mentor The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) in the mystical ways of magic. As is the case with Marvel's future projects, all plot beats are being kept quiet - but with shooting scheduled to start this fall, expect an official synopsis shortly. Doctor Strange opens on November 4, 2016.
