Man Of Steel casts Antje Traue as villainess Faora
German actress lands killer role
Zack Snyder has cast German actress Antje Traue as comic book villainess Faora in Man Of Steel .
Though story details on the Superman reboot are still few and far between (not including that brief leaked plot), it’s presumed Faora will help General Zod (Michael Shannon) in whatever evil designs he’s brewing.
Variety near confirm that, reporting that Snyder will be using the version of Faora that debuted in Action Comics #779 , in which Faora is an aid to Zod who creates a mutagenic virus.
Previously, Traue also appeared in little-seen but decent sci-fi Pandorum , while all pre- Pandorum credits were German TV shows and short films.
It looks like Snyder is playing it smart when it comes to casting his Supes movie, having opted for a mix of solid up-and-comers and tried and true A-listers.
After the lacklustre reception of Sucker Punch , Snyder’s going to need all the good press he can find to get people amped for Man Of Steel , and casting left-field choices like Traue should certainly earn him some brownie points.
Man Of Steel opens December 2012.
