Mark Millar becomes Fox's Marvel consultant
Set to oversee X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises
Marvel has been making a lot of noise about its forthcoming Phase Two projects, but Fox has taken steps to maintain the quality of its own Marvel properties by drafting in Mark Millar as a new consultant.
As the author of Kick Ass , Wanted and Civil War , Millar is more than familiar with the subject matter, and Fox will be hoping he can serve as a creative guru in a similar vein to Joss Whedon at Marvel Studios.
According to the studio, Millar will be charged with "developing new avenues for the X-Men and Fantastic Four tentpoles". That would put him in the frame to work on The Wolverine , as well as X-Men: Days Of Future Past and the Fantastic Four reboot.
Just how involved Millar will be remains to be seen, but judging by his outspoken nature with regards to comic-book filmmaking in general, we'd be surprised if he was happy to take a back seat.
The Wolverine will be Fox's next Marvel offering, so we'll await Millar's thoughts with interest over the coming months. The film opens in the UK on 26 July 2013.
