Mark Strong joins Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy
Is he replacing Ralph Fiennes?
Mark Strong has added his name to the already-impressive cast list of Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of John Le Carré’s novel Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy .
Strong will appear alongside Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Jared Harris, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy and Ciaran Hinds, and it’s debatable whether or not the Brit actor will be taking on the role recently vacated by Ralph Fiennes.
The plot of Le Carré’s novel takes place in the 1970s, and follows George Smiley, a retired intelligence expert who is dragged back into work to help track down a soviet mole in ‘the circus’ (aka MI6).
Previously, Alec Guinness played Smiley in the BBC’s 1979 TV adaptation of the tale. Gary Oldman is taking on that role in the new film, while Tom Hardy will play Brit agent ‘Tricky’ Ricky Tarr.
Alfredson is best known as the Swedish director of Let The Right One In .
