Martin Scorsese to make Elizabeth Taylor biopic?
Paramount options Furious Love
Martin Scorsese could next be directing a love story of epic proportions – that of the relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Paramount is currently closing a deal to develop a film based on Furious Love , the book by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, which recounts the Taylor-Burton affair.
And the studio is envisioning it as a directing project for Scorsese.
Though the director’s super-busy at the moment, Paramount is clearly keen to get this one off the ground - they beat both Natalie Portman and King’s Speech scribe David Seidler to the movie rights.
How busy is Scorsese? Well he’s currently in post-production on Hugo Cabret - his first 3D movie - while possible next projects include The Irishman , a Frank Sinatra biopic and period film Silence .
Still, the Taylor-Burton affair could prove an enticing offer, especially considering the drama of their lives and the sumptuous period setting such a project would involve.
Could Furious Love be an opportunity for Scorsese to team up with Leonardo DiCaprio for a fifth time?
