Marvel's The Avengers heads to New York Comic Con

The full panel line up has now been posted for New York Comic Con and Marvel Studios will be showing off new footage from The Avengers .

The screening takes place on Saturday 15 October from 6.30-7.30pm in the IGN Theater and includes some “special surprise guests”.

Hopefully the surprise won't be that they're not Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson or Stellan Skarsgård.

Here's the official blurb:

“Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in Iron Man , The Incredible Hulk , Iron Man 2 , Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger , in Marvel's The Avengers the world's greatest Super Heroes must assemble to pull the world back from the brink of disaster when an unexpected enemy threatens global security. This special presentation will feature never-before-seen footage and appearances by special surprise guests.”

So which film could benefit from a pre- Avengers crowd?

That'd be the Syfy Channel world premiere original movie Zombie Apocalypse , starring Ving Rhames, Lesley-Ann Brandt ( Spartacus: Blood And Sand ), Taryn Manning ( 8 Mile ), Johnny Pacar ( Flight 29 Down ), Gary Weeks ( Deadland ) and Eddie Steeples ( My Name Is Earl ).

Joss Whedon's The Avengers opens on 4 May 2012.
