Matt Smith on his Ryan Gosling man crush

Inside issue 207 of Total Film magazine , we profile the hottest stars, trends and movies coming your way in the Future 100.

The issue’s still on sale (and it’s available for only £1.99 on your iPad ), and inside you can get the scoop on all the filmic movers and shakers set to be making waves.

Matt Smith, who made his name as the most recent incarnation of TV’s Doctor Who, is upping his film profile a notch by starring in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster .

So what happened when one of the hottest actors on TV met one of the hottest actors in film – an imploding timey-wimey paradox of mutual man-crush, perhaps?

“I would have no idea,” Smith told us, demurely. “But obviously I have admired his abdominals in Crazy Stupid Love . Yes, he’s a very handsome man, that’s for sure.”

Abs aside, Smith is clearly chuffed to be working with 32-year-old Gosling. “He’s cool. He’s bright, you know. He’s got a really clear, really brilliant vision for his film."
