Matthew Vaughn planning more Kick-Ass films
Matthew Vaughn has been discussing the Kick-Ass franchise, and has told Yahoo! that he would like to make further films in the series. However, after the second film's lukewarm reception, he acknowledges there is work to be done in winning back some of the fans of the original…
"We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy," says Vaughn. "If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like Kick-Ass 2 and then we can go off and make Kick-Ass 3. I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass."
In addition to Vaughn's comments, Mark Millar has previously expressed an interest in a standalone Hit-Girl movie, teasing that he has an "insane" idea for it. That said, the second film's poor box office performance would make a third outing a serious leap of faith for studio bosses, particularly given the likely R-rating. Don't hold your breath…
