Mlanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon and Isabella Rossellini join An Enemy
Jake Gyllenhaal has some company
An Enemy , the forthcoming psychological thriller from director Denis Villeneuve, has added a trio of actresses to its cast list, after Pathé announced the involvement of Mélanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon and Isabella Rossellini at the Cannes film festival.
The film will star Jake Gyllenhaal as Adam, a history teacher whose life is thrown into turmoil upon the discovery of a physically identical man living nearby.
Bemused by the existence of such a doppelganger, Adam begins to stalk his double, initially from a distance, but eventually to the point at which their lives become perilously intertwined…
Laurent has been cast as Marie, Adam's girlfriend, while Gadon will play Helen, the pregnant wife of Adam's counterpart, Anthony. Details for Rossellini's character have yet to be disclosed, barring the fact that she's named Caroline.
Described by the director as "an existential erotic thriller", filming is set to begin in Toronto on 22 May, ahead of a 2013 release. A specific opening date has yet to be confirmed.
