Melissa McCarthy in talks to join Ghostbusters reboot
Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot has begun the casting process, with the director’s Bridesmaids collaborator, Melissa McCarthy, said to be in early talks over a starring role.
According to THR, McCarthy is interested in joining the project, and Feig is desperate to have her on board, but there will be a number of scheduling hurdles to be negotiated before any deal is made official.
Meanwhile, the report claims that both Jillian Bell and Cecily Strong could be in line for supporting roles, with both actresses currently scheduled to meet with Feig and his production team.
As for some of the other big names linked to the film, THR reports that neither Rebel Wilson nor Jessica Chastain are currently in the frame, but notes that Emma Stone may be a possibility.
However, the report stresses that securing McCarthy is Feig’s priority at this stage. Filming on the project is scheduled to begin this summer, with an official release date yet to be confirmed.
