Mendes a maybe for Bond 23
Director set to join project as consultant...
Only yesterday we were reporting that Bond 23 might be in troubled water thanks to MGM’s current ‘on sale’ status.
Well, it seems MGM don’t like all the negative attention they’re attracting. So they’re looking to hire Brit director Sam Mendes as a ‘consultant’ on the project – and no doubt hush up those doom mongers.
What does that mean? Basically, MGM haven’t got the money to officially hire a director. But they need somebody onboard to steer Bond into calmer territory. Which is where Mendes comes in.
No official word yet if the dotted line has been signed, but Deadline Hollywood seem pretty sure that this is a done deal.
Either way, this seems like the most promising news of late regarding Bond’s latest film. With the more drama-oriented Mendes onboard, you can bet there’ll be a little less shooting and a little more thinking involved in Bond 23 .
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Is Mendes a good choice? Think missus Kate Winslet should follow suit? Comments below...
