Metal Gear Solid HD Collection launch trailer barely encapsulates why MGS is awesome
A huge chunk of Metal Gear history got HD-ified today and this video proves it
For the last decade you’ve probably heard much about Metal Gear Solid, and pretty much everything is true. It’s simultaneously unchained artistic brilliance, ridiculously convoluted, full of weird jokes, has some of the best graphics of its console generation, and barely makes sense if you think about it. Something that singular deserves to be celebrated (on top of the games just being fun to play), and this launch trailer for the HD Collection of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker gives you some idea of just how important this re-release is…
As you can see in the trailer, it comes with those three highly esteemed games and almost all the extra that were put in later versions of the titles, plus the formerly PSP-exclusive Peace Walker now has camera controls that take advantage of the twin sticks on both PS3 and 360. Our 9/10 review called it the best combo deal in gaming since Orange Box, which is high praise indeed. The collection went on sale today, with a regular edition and a special edition with a snazzy art book.
