Michael Rooker joins Guardians Of The Galaxy
He'll play Yondu
Guardians Of The Galaxy has filled another slot on its gradually swelling roster, with Michael Rooker signing on to play Yondu.
A blue-skinned humanoid originating from the primitive Zatoan tribe, Yondu is a former game hunter who ends up allying himself with the Guardians in order to protect his home planet.
Rooker's casting shouldn't come as a great surprise, as he has previously worked with director James Gunn on Slither and Super . The actor will line up alongside Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and former wrestler Dave Bautista in the forthcoming film, although we still don't have any casting for Groot the talking tree or anthropomorphised critter Rocket Raccoon.
Plot details remain slightly threadbare for this one, although its thought that the Guardians will encounter the villainous Thanos, setting up the events of The Avengers 2 further down the track.
Directed by James Gunn, who has also written the screenplay, Guardians Of The Galaxy will open in the UK on 1 August 2014.
