Minecraft: Story Mode coming in 2015 from Telltale and Mojang
Ok, try to think of the least likely source material ever for Telltale Games to adapt into an episodic adventure series... Did you actually guess or just read the headline? Sorry to spoil the mind-bending surprise, then, but Mojang and Telltale are collaborating to create Minecraft: Story Mode, an episodic adventure set in a new narrative offshoot of the hugely successful create-and-survive franchise.
Despite the name, Minecraft: Story Mode will be its own standalone product released aside from the game you already have installed on your PC, console, smartphone, and graphing calculator. Purists shouldn't be too alarmed - Mojang says it's not trying to create an official story for its freeform, pixelated world, it's just an interesting new project that the community will be invited to help keep as 'Minecrafty as possible'.
Telltale adds that Minecraft: Story Mode will follow an original narrative full of new characters and familiar themes. The story will be driven by player choices, much like The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones, and the rest of Telltale's adventure adaptations. Its first episode will debut in 2015 on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles (which is significant, since Microsoft now owns Mojang), PC, Mac, and mobile devices.
Is your block-shaped head still spinning? Just try to imagine The Walking Dead but with creepers instead of zombies... but also zombies. See? Easy. Or you could always play Mojang's Info Quest II browser game to try to suss out a few more details.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
