Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children new footage teases an epic monster battle
Over the course of his filmmaking career Tim Burton's made a habit of seeking out the weird and wonderful. The stranger, the better usually. For his next outing, he's tackling the world created by author Ransom Riggs in his the novel, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children which, as this bunch of new clips show, is an unusual tale perfect for Burton's quirky filmmaking style.
The story follows the exploits of a boy named Jake who finds himself in a children's home quite unlike most. Its inhabitants are like X-Men except with skills that aren't fit for fighting Magneto, and more suited to scaring the bejeezus out of the general public. It's these unique abilities that are showcased in this trio of new TV spots and featurettes, shining a light in particular on Ella Purnell's character, Emma Bloom. Her gift for being able to blow air sounds, on paper, like she'd make a good animal balloon artist. In reality, she's more like a master escape artist.
There's a lot of interesting skill sets on display, all nurtured by Eva Green's Miss Peregrine who looks to be embracing her own nature to battle a bunch of hideous beasties. No, I mean it, these guys look horrible. Check them out below:
Directed by Tim Burton and starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Chris O’Dowd, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Judi Dench, Rupert Everett and Samuel L. Jackson, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children opens in the UK and US on September 30.
