This is the news! Star Wars cast grows, Time Lord teased, Purge posters, and trailers galore...
• The BBC has unveiled a new teaser for upcoming series of Doctor Who , briefly showing Peter Capaldi’s incarnation of the Time Lord. This new footage hints at the return of the Daleks and their creator Davros. The Doctor is due to return to screens on Saturday 23 August.
It’s also been announced that the first episode will premiere in Cardiff on Thursday 7 August. Tickets are on sale to the public now and can be purchased online or from St David’s Hall box office on 029 2087 8444.
• Two more actors have joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII . Having hunted for young talent, the filmmakers have chosen American actress Crystal Clarke, who is currently studying in Glasgow, and British actor Pip Anderson.
• Fans of 8-bit retro gaming will be thrilled that author Andy Remic is planning Memoirs Of A Spectrum Addict: The Movie . "This is a homage, so to speak," he says. "A full cinematic experience – part re-enactment, with acting and narrative voice-over – about my childhood growing up with the Spectrum; part exploratory documentary; part interview with industry people; and of course, interviews with the children who grew up loving the Spectrum computer." • AMC has debuted its first teaser for the fifth season of The Walking Dead . Season five is currently in production and is set to air this autumn.
• A Transformers and GI Joe crossover is a possibility according to producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce who spoke with Total Film .
• A new Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes teaser has been released, intended to coincide with the recent Independence Day celebrations. Watch as John F Kennedy and Apes are juxtaposed to great effect.
• On Facebook, Peter Jackson has shed light on upcoming details of the teaser trailer for The Hobbit: Battle Of Five Armies , due to drop later this month.
• Microsoft has released the new Terminal trailer for Halo: The Master Chief Collection , launching on Tuesday 11 November for the Xbox One.
• There are new posters, banners and images from Universal Pictures for James DeMonaco’s The Purge: Anarchy .
• London Film And Comic-Con takes place this weekend at Earl's Court. This year it will feature the all-new Young Adult Lit Con too. SFX 's editor Dave Bradley will be introducing author, actor and comedian Mitch Benn on stage at 10:45am on Saturday morning.
