More zombies heading to Xbox & PC
FPS based on Romero's Land of the Dead out this year
Digital Extremes offshoot Brainbox Games has just announced the first details of Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green, a zombie-based first-person shooter for PC and Xbox.
We're fans of the undead as much as anyone and, given that this is based on George A Romero's Land of the Dead movie (which reaches the UK next month), the combined level of gore and cadavers promises to be suitably high.
The storyline (such as it is) involves players having to save themselves from an army of corpses "bent on spreading a zombie plague". Which, as excuses for shooting things go, is a pretty good one.
The game is based around the Unreal Engine and features the expected array of melee and ranged weapons - including sniper rifles, shovels, M16s, fire axes, golf clubs, lead pipes, Molotov cocktails and baseball bats - while multiplayer modes allow players to work with or against other humans.
Sophisticated it most certainly ain't, but any game that allows you to pummel zombies with a spade is fine by us. We'll have the first screenshots soon.
Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green will be released for PC and Xbox in the US in October. A UK release date has yet to be confirmed
