Sony today confirmed the release date of the latest in the MotorStorm framily. With an April 12, 2011release, it falls into the company's previously promised spring 2011 time frame.
"The game just had a great showing at the Sony booth at CES last week, wowing people with its mind-blowing 3D and intense racing across, and through, gigantic skyscrapers," wrote associate product marketing manager Brian Dunn in a PlayStation Blog post.
Apocalypse is the full-blown version of Sony's MotorStorm 3D demo that hit the PlayStation Store early last year. It was one of the flagship pieces of 3D content available on the PS3, so this is kind of a pet project for Sony's 3D team.
Okay, so that's for the 0.5% of PS3 owners who have a 3D TV. For everyone else, Apocalypse brings new bikes, more original off-road tracks, and a lot of planned future DLC.
Additionally, there's a brand new photo mode, in which players can take shots of the expansive environments throughout the game.
