NBA Live 13 canceled
Troubled basketball series sits out another season in preparation for NBA Live 14
NBA Live 13 has been canceled. EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson confirmed on the NBA Live website that the Electronic Arts basketball series will skip another year, with plans to regroup and have a new game prepared for next season.
"Having continued to look at the game over the past few days, it's clear that we won't be ready in October," Wilson said. "And rather than launch midway through the season, we're going to sit out the full year and stay focused on making next year’s game great."
Wilson said EA Sports was aware at the outset that resurrecting the NBA Live franchise would be a long process. The game would have been the first in the series since intended successor NBA Elite 11 was canceled for quality concerns, releasing only on iOS. Since then, NBA Live 13 has had a tumultuous development cycle, with fans reacting poorly to leaked gameplay footage and persistent rumors of a digital-only release.
"This wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right one for our fans," Wilson said. "I hope you'll agree when you're able to play the game next year."

Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo.
