Xena Warrior Princess reboot coming. Original Xena actress may appear
NBC is about to press the reboot button on another classic property, with THR reporting that the network is planning a new version of swords-and-sandals series Xena: Warrior Princess.
For those unfamiliar with the original, it was a spin-off from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, starring Lucy Lawless as the titular ass-kicking heroine. Original creator Rob Tapert is set to be involved in the new version, along with Sam Raimi, who served as executive producer the first time around.
Described as "a modern reboot", the show will feature a new version of Xena boasting "the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games' Katniss". There are also rumblings that Lawless may return in some capacity, either on-screen or off. The show is apparently aiming for a 2016 release, although it is unclear at this stage whether it will be a limited-run series, or the start of something bigger…
