NCsoft celebrates Aion's two-year anniversary with in-game events and new content
“Reactivation Celebration” aims to win back lax players
NCsoft, the Korea-based publisher of MMOs including Lineage and Guild Wars, is launching a range of celebrations this week for Aion: The Tower of Eternity. The game launched outside Korea two years ago this month, and an in-game festival will kick off ten days of celebrations and contests intended to reward loyal players and welcome back those who may've been lured away by other titles.
Whereas the two-year anniversary of the original launch was marked last November by mystery gifts awarded to players willing to stay online long enough, the Ascension Festival marks a worldwide event in which numerous quests and rewards will dot the in-game world of Atreia. The occasion will also be marked by a Reactivation Celebration in which players who haven't explored the world of Aion for some time can collect extra XP and undertake quests such as the “Picking Up The Past” event, in which cataloguing Atreia's natural history is rewarded with items and medals.

The Reactivation Celebration begins at 5pm CEST today (the 22nd) and runs until 5pm on Oct 2. The Ascension Festival is already in action and remains active until Oct 26. The game will also be updated to version 2.7 on Oct 13, at which time the Crucible Coliseum will bring two new PvP arenas to the game, as well as a large-scale boss-fight quest in the game's Padmarashka’s Cave area. NCsoft's Aion website offers links to guides for the Ascension Festival and Reactivation Celebration.
