It feels like even the word gaming PC has the potential to make your bank account weep these days, especially if you’re looking for a rig with relatively fresh innards. That’s not to say you can’t snag a great system for less, however, as you can currently grab an Nvidia RTX 3080 build at Scan UK for under $1,000, and the rest of its specs are pretty swish too.

While checking the interwebs for deals on the best gaming PC builds this morning, we stumbled across Scan UK’s XS Systems machine featuring a Zotac Gaming RTX 3080 GPU, which is currently down from £1,299.98 to £999.98. Again, most newish GeForce rigs go for over £1,000, so it’s nice to see a pre-built machine with a three-digit price tag.

Not only does the XS Systems machine wield one of the best graphics cards available, but it’s also armed with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a spacious 1TB SSD that’ll hold a chunk of your Steam library. It even comes with Windows 11 preinstalled, so you won’t have to faff around with operating systems before putting that beefy GeForce GPU to the test. Sure you could opt for a rig with an Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti, but just the card will set you back over $800 (£800).

Save £300 - This discounted rig strikes a great balance between specs and price, and its GeForce graphics card is accompanied by an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU and 16GB DDR4 RAM.

Scan UK’s build isn’t all specs substance, as its case embraces a sense of subtle style. RGB fans add a splash of color up front, and you’ll be able to gaze at its impressive innards using the glass side panel.

Sadly, this deal is specific to the United Kingdom, but fear not if you’re in the US, as we’ve tracked down a similar build by Skytech that is 29% off on Amazon right now. For $1,699.99, you’ll get largely the same configuration paired with the higher-spec AMD Ryzen 5 5600X –  one of the best CPU for gaming options on the market.

I’ve been messing around with PCs, video game consoles, and tech since before I could speak. Don’t get me wrong, I kickstarted my relationship with technology by jamming a Hot Wheels double-decker bus into my parent’s VCR, but we all have to start somewhere. I even somehow managed to become a walking, talking buyer’s guide at my teenage supermarket job, which helped me accept my career fate. So, rather than try to realise my musician dreams, or see out my University degree, I started running my own retro pop culture site and writing about video games and tech for the likes of TechRadar, The Daily Star, and the BBC before eventually ending up with a job covering graphics card shenanigans at PCGamesN. Now, I’m your friendly neighbourhood Hardware Editor at GamesRadar, and it’s my job to make sure you can kick butt in all your favourite games using the best gaming hardware, whether you’re a sucker for handhelds like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch or a hardcore gaming PC enthusiast.
