Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion first pics

Neverwinter Nights 2 developer Obsidian Entertainment is working on an expansion for the RPG sequel. Titled Mask of the Betrayer, the expansion is due out toward the end of the year and features a new campaign taking adventurers back to the Forgotten Realms universe. The storyline kicks off shortly after the events portrayed in NWN 2 and finds players embarking on "an epic adventure that reveals his true destiny," publisher Atari has said.

Accompanying the new campaign is a feast of additional RPG goodness that includes new feats for characters, new spells, new races, new base and prestige classes, new companions - deep breath - new weapons and armor along with new crafting options, new monsters and beefed up modding tools.

"Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer's engrossing campaign will conclude the storyline that began in the original Neverwinter Nights 2 and focus on combat, exploration and classic D%26D dungeon-crawling," said Feargus Urquhart, CEO, Obsidian Entertainment has explained.

"We're also making new advances in story and character development as well as improving upon the acclaimed companion Influence System used in both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords and Neverwinter Nights 2."
