The Expendables 2 is flexing its well-oiled muscles for an all-out assault on the summer box office, and in order to whet our appetites further, has released a cool new banner poster posing its key players in a mock-up of the Last Supper.

And so, we have Stallone in the unlikely role of Jesus, while the rest of his gun-toting posse sit on either side, seemingly itching for a scrap. Dolph Lundgren looks ready to carve the meat, while Chuck Norris just looks plain ready...

The new film will see Stallone's band of brothers brought together by Bruce Willis' Mr. Church when he decides the time is right to call in an old favour. Said favour is of course highly dangerous, given that it includes a villainous Jean-Claude Van Damme and a job lot of plutonium.

The new poster follows the cool grindhouse effort that surfaced at Comic-Con , and its pleasing to see Lionsgate marketing this one with their tongues suitably in cheeks. It isn't fine art, after all… semi-sacrilegious posturing is very much the order of the day.

Directed by Simon West and co-starring loads and loads of guns, The Expendables 2 opens in the UK on 16 August 2012. Lock and load!
