New details on new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. gameplay mode
GSC tells us more about Freeplay, which will be part of the new patch
Back in June, GSC revealed its planto release a new gameplay mode - Freeplay - for S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and the developer's now expanded on the details it originally provided.
Planned for inclusion in the next patch for the game, Freeplay's a brand new single-player mode that's accessible once you've completed the game.
"In a nutshell," GSC senior PR manager Oleg Yavorsky has told us, "it's you and A-life only, no story scene limitations whatsoever - you can roam freely (players complained they couldn't properly explore some places, like Pripyat), accomplish random quests (a bunch of new tasks were written specifically for this mode), [and] find some new opportunities, such as picking up tasks from the military, for example."
Your ranking is going to be a key thing to care about while playing in this mode, explained Yavorsky.
In addition to accessing the new Freeplay game mode once you've completed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - if you install the new patch - you'll also unlock an "extreme" level of difficulty. "I'm sure hardcore players will enjoy playing in this mode," Yavorsky said.
A release date for the next S.T.A.L.K.E.R. patch is yet to be set, although GSC has promised it should be out "very soon."
