New images from Jack Ryan reboot
Including a look at Kenneth Branagh’s villain
The Jack Ryan reboot has released a couple of new images online, including our first look at Kenneth Branagh in character as the film’s primary antagonist.
The new image shows Branagh and co-star Chris Pine strolling across a busy bridge in what appears to be Moscow. Branagh plays Pine’s employer in the film, which would explain why the pair look so chummy.
The new film sees former CIA man Ryan working as a financial analyst in the Russian capital, who finds himself at odds with Branagh’s character when he uncovers a plot to finance a terrorist attack designed to crash the US economy.
Branagh will be pulling double duty on the project, as he’s also the film’s director, and he’s convinced that Jack Ryan will be dramatically engaging as well as a straightforward adrenaline rush.
“I think that a lot of exciting elements are finding a place where the film is happily, truly about something,” he said, earlier this year. “When you get that under something that is also a page-turner and has a high adrenalin factor, I think that’s a nice combination.”
Jack Ryan opens in the US on 25 December 2013, with a UK release date to be confirmed.
