The new issue of OXM UK is out now

All hail my glorious overlord, the Official Xbox Magazine. Its serene, wood-pulpy majesty has returned, stuffed cover to cover with information, the best opinion going and at least 6 chuckles to be had.

If you ask me, the Mad Max cover feature - in which one intrepid writer travelled to Stockholm to play Avalanche's new knockabout apocalypse sim - is the single greatest bit of writing ever committed to the pages of any magazine, not just this one. Also, I wrote it.

It's a fairly Avalanche-heavy issue as it happens - we've also got a huge rundown of the open-world enthusiasts' Just Cause 3, which has more flying than Mad Max, but fewer self-mutilated maniacs. I'm not saying you have to choose between them right now, I'm just saying you could. It's a service we're offering you.

Moving away from a single Swedish developer, the magazine also goes in-depth with the anouncement of Rock Band 4, a game I am so excited for I might be a bit sick right now. Yep, that did it.

And all of this isn't to mention a packed reviews section, a look back at the older games we still deem worth our hugely valuable time and, very sadly, ex-OXMer Kate Gray's last opinion column. Weep.

You can buy the magazine in any shop worth its salt, buy the digital edition (with added audio commentary from editor Matthew Castle and I) by downloading the OXM app, or subscribe to either format here. Enjoy!

Joe Skrebels
Joe first fell in love with games when a copy of The Lion King on SNES became his stepfather in 1994. When the cartridge left his mother in 2001, he turned to his priest - a limited edition crystal Xbox - for guidance. And now he's here.
