New JJ Abrams TV Pilot Believe Casts Male Lead
Alfonso Cuaron to direct the pilot
As this year’s batch of US TV pilots prepare to do battle to win the thumbs up from the network men-in-suits, there’s news that one of JJ Abrams ’ contenders, the fantasy show Believe , has found its male lead.
According to TVLine , Jake McLaughlin, who played Alex’s brother Aaron on Grey’s Anatomy and appaered in Oliver Stone’s Savages, will play a young man who’s sprung from prison to protect a young girl who is developing great powers that will reach their height in five years. She needs protecting, because there are some bad people out there with their own plans for what they could do with her powers, and it’s not opening a chain of frozen yoghurt shops.
Alfonso Cuaron ( Children Of Men , Gravity ), JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk ( Fringe ) are the executive producers. Cuaron has co-written the pilot and will also direct.
Abrams’s Bad Robot production company has another SFX show in contention this pilot season , an “action-packed buddy cop show, set in the near future” created by Fringe showrunner JH Wyman, called Inhuman .
