New Line moving forward with Shaft reboot
The man who would risk his neck for his brother man is getting a new lease of life, with The Wrap reporting that New Line is cooking up a reboot of the Shaft franchise.
According to the report, New Line has purchased the rights to everyone’s favourite maverick cop, and is moving forward on a new film to be produced by John Davis.
It’s been 15 years since we last saw the character on the big screen, with Samuel L. Jackson picking up the baton from Richard Roundtree, who starred in the 1971 original.
The new film will see a third actor take on the role, although no names have been mentioned as yet. Plot details are also non-existent at this stage.
Jackson played the nephew of the original John Shaft in the most recent film, but it is expected that this new version will start from scratch in a bid to bring the character to a whole new audience.
